Extremely Disappointing Customer Service Experience
Dear MTN Customer Service,
I am writing to express my extreme disappointment and frustration with the recent customer service experience my father and I had when dealing with one of your call center agents. As a loyal MTN customer for several years, I expected a much higher level of service and professionalism.
My father, who is of retirement age, required assistance with his account, and I was assisting him during the call. Our experience was marred from the beginning due to a terrible signal on the line. The call was constantly dropping, causing significant inconvenience. However, the most distressing part of the interaction was the behavior of the call center agent, whose name I did note.
Throughout the call, my father was repeatedly asked for personal information, which he patiently provided despite the challenges posed by the poor line quality. Sadly, he had to repeat himself multiple times because of the signal issues. Witnessing my father's frustration, I attempted to assist by repeating his answers to ensure the agent understood his responses. I also asked if the agent was still online due to the unreliable connection.
To our astonishment, instead of showing understanding and patience, the call center agent reprimanded me and even threatened to terminate the call. It's worth noting that she had previously asked me not to answer my father's questions, which I adhered to until the signal issues persisted. I politely requested that she transfer our call to someone who was willing to assist under these challenging circumstances, but she flatly refused and instructed us to redial and wait in the queue.
This entire experience was not only frustrating but also deeply upsetting. It is utterly unacceptable for a call center agent to treat customers, especially elderly individuals and their caregivers, in such a manner. We expect MTN's customer service representatives to exhibit patience, compassion, and professionalism, particularly when dealing with vulnerable individuals.
I kindly request that you investigate this matter thoroughly and take appropriate action to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future. Your call center agents should be trained to handle difficult situations, understand the needs of elderly customers, and demonstrate the patience required to provide the quality service that MTN customers deserve.
I look forward to hearing from you promptly regarding the steps you plan to take to address this issue and prevent similar occurrences in the future. If necessary, I am prepared to escalate this matter further to ensure that my father and I receive the service and respect we deserve as valued MTN customers.
Sincerely, Megan Kerri
