Extremely Bad Service!
Doing an early contract upgrade is impossible.
You get put on hold for 30 mins trying to get through to the correct department and when you finally get through, the consultants are slow and very unhelpful.
Going in to a branch is also a waste of time.
I am less than a month away from being able to upgrade. According to the terms and conditions on their website, early upgrades should be possible in the event of retaining a customer, it only requires a supervisor to approve it. I have told the consultants many times that if I can't upgrade, I want to cancel my contract. I was at a branch last week Thursday where the lady said she sent an email with motivation and that she would get back to me the following day. One week later, nothing!
This is very frustrating!
Dear Andre,
Thank you so much for the patience and understanding you’ve displayed during this most regrettable situation. For myself and on behalf of MTN, please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience caused.
Kindly note we'll assist with an upgrade for you however you would need to settle the promo service fee for your previous device which is still outstanding. The amount is R1,618.80 that would need to be paid before the early upgrade can be processed.
The total cost of the handset is broken down in to the number of months making up your contractual term (24mths) and added to your statement as promo service.
That is, you are paying instalments instead of a lump sum for your handset.
I would like to thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. We are always looking for ways to improve our service, and your feedback is an invaluable part of that process.
Should you need help in the future, please do not hesitate to contact me directly, and I will be very happy to assist you.
