Extra, unwanted charges 'mysteriously' appear on my invoice.

I recently upgraded my monthly data package to a 5GB one, at a special advertised rate of R199.00 per month. I signed all the relevant forms at the MTN retail outlet in Sandton City.

I subsequently received my first invoice, for a whopping R 1,069.00. I queried it via E-mail immediately, and received no response. I then called the 808 helpline - and was told I needed to go back to the retail outlet in Sandton City...

I did so, and the disinterested consultant called up my itemised invoice and told me that an extra 3GB and 5GB 'recurring monthly package' had been added onto the acccount. He could not explain why, but gave me a reference number and said I had to follow up with the accounts department on the 808 number... (I think we see a pattern developing here)

After being sent around in circles via e-mail after e-mail asking for the same info (MTN PIN, my name, my bank account number, and on and on), I finally managed to get the errant 3GB and 5GB recurring fees cancelled. Needless to say, I found this process to be an excruciatingly irritating waste of my time, and my money.

IN ADDITION TO THIS: the R 1,069.00 fee has now already been debited from my bank account. I see this as a form of *****. In my view, this does not fall far short of actual theft. I have asked MTN to cancel the account altogether, as they have quite clearly breached the contract by blatantly overcharging me for services I never signed for. And - more importantly - I want my money refunded.

MTN has issued me with a full refund. It's just a pity I had to use hellopeter to get this result, but at least they have acknowledged and fixed their mistake. Thank you.
