End of contract

I took a 24 months contract phone with MTN end of June 2013. The contract was supposed to end in July 2015. From the 1st day I got engaged with MTN I had a problem with the sim card offer to me. It happened to be a re-cycled sim. I was getting calls and messages for the previous owner, I asked them several time to change it for me but they couldn’t and I ended up making peace with the fact that I will be someone’s PA.

I was on debit order and switched banks. I notified MTN in time but they advised me to do cash deposits which was never a problem for me. Come end of July 2015… I went to the Randburg square outlet where I purchased my phone to confirm if there’s anything I owe. Everything was in order according to them and I emphasized they cancel my contact because I will not be upgrading/ continuing with them.

To my surprise, I started getting calls from a company called Shurpiro Shakes saying that my account has been handed over as I owe MTN. I Later went to MTN in Maponya mall to confirm with them and they couldn’t help me either. This is terribly affecting me and there seem to be no one taking responsibility to assist me. What amazes me it’s that no one bothered to alert me if there were any charges due after July 2015. I only got corresponded from the other company I did not do business with few months down the line.

MTN at it again. I had a query with my MTN contract account and was told that I had an outstanding amount which MTN never told me anything about it until they decided to hand my account to their attorneys. Over a year passed and someone decides to call and collect a huge amount I never knew about.

2 months ago, I posted my complaint and was told to pay a certain amount to MTN and the remaining will be credited as it was never my fault. I payed as instructed and to my surprise... till today, nothing has really been done by their attorneys. i still get phone calls and emails stating that my account has a balance. This has badly affected my credit rating and it is clear that I was falsy misleaded.
