Good day MTN.

On the 22nd of March I decided to move to MTN and I took out a contract for a Sony Xperia Z5 Premium Chrome. On 23 March 2017 I received my device at the MTN store in Centurion mall (SABC 0344). As soon as I unboxed my device and booted it for the first time I noticed that the battery was on 15%. Normally they boot between 60-65% battery life. I did the normal first charge procedure (as recommended by MTN staff). The first day my battery drained to a mere 12% in less than 4 hours. The device was barely used because I was working. In the hopes that the battery would recover soon, I did not pay much attention to it. Later I noticed that the device was overheating while not doing much. I received a device temperature warning when I was talking on the phone for less than 6 minutes. As the days went on, the device started stuttering and it froze multiple times and I had to hard reset it using the integrated reboot button located near the SIM slot. I have had enough and decided to make arrangements with my boss so that I can take the device back to MTN since I was still in my 7 day return policy. MTN Centurion Mall recommended that I take the device to MTN Forest hill (Shop number 88) because they had stock for a replacement device. So I did just that. On the 29th of March 2017 I went to return the device. I reached the MTN store by approximately 17:12PM. When I wanted to enter the shop they closed the door and refused service because they were "closed". I told them that according to other MTN shops their doors should close by 19:00PM on week days. They still refused to help me. So again today (30 March, 13:27PM)I made arrangements to take me device in. When I explained the situation they told me that my 7 day return policy had passed and they need to book the device in for warranty assessment which can take up to 3 weeks. I've been told that my 7 day return policy starts on the date of purchase of the device. So my last day to return should be today? (30 March) Once again I’ve been refused by employees and I've been told to take my device to the repair centre in Midrand.

MTN, is this the kind of service I should expect from your employees? They have caused me a lot of inconvenience. I feel that I am being treated unfairly and disrespectfully. I would like to hear from you and hopefully you will be able to sort this out for me.

Kindly contact me on **********

Email: **********

Kind regards, JJ Stephens
