Early Cancellation for a contract that expired after 24 months

I signed up for an 24 month MTN cell phone contract in November 2014. In October 2016, 23 months later and 1 month before my contract expired, i decided to move to Cell C due to poor service I received from MTN in the 2 years I was with them.

I gave 30 days cancelation notification and was told by the MTN person I was dealing with that everything was fine because my contract ended on the 11 November. Here is where the fun starts, at the end of November is was debited the R859.00 monthly subscription, which I was happy with but I was also then hit with an early termination fee of R1049.01!! How can I be charged for early termination on a contract that had run for 24 months. After multiple calls to the service centre and multiple emails to customer support, I have been told that there is nothing that can be done.

Nice one MTN, pathetic service is why I left you and then you go and shaft me once more before I leave!!
