Dual sim phone but MTN deactivated the one sim slot

MTN sells dual sim phone contracts, but they deactivate the one sim slot so that you only able to use the one sim slot. They say they protect their customers by doing this. Bull****!!! Did I ask for your protection? No! So MTN is a security company now offering unwanted sim protection..... I'm sitting with a MTN Huawei P30 dual sim phone with only one sim slot active, the other sim slot is deactivated by MTN. The manager at MTN Zevenwacht Mall branch told me today that I should have asked for a dual sim phone when I took out the contract and then only they would have inform the customer that MTN only sell one sim phones. I asked her why must the customer ask such a stupid question, everyone knows the P30 is dual sim phone and that is what I expected when I took out the phone. It's like buying a phone with Bluetooth function from MTN and then they disable the Bluetooth function. Regret ever taking out a contract with them!!!

This is MTN's reply, don't know why they responded privately in anyway

Thank you for your post.

We sincere apologized for any inconvenienced caused to you.

MTN did not advertise or communicate a dual sim function to consumers
MTN does not disable the dual SIM functionality on any smart phone, rather, the company only purchases 4G devices that offer single SIM functionality. The reason why the company has chosen not to support dual SIM functionality in our 4G devices relates to the extent to which MTN subsidises 4G smart phones. We choose to subsidise smart phones to make these costly devices more accessible to the public and we spend over R1 billion a year on these handset subsidies, which is why we choose not to sell dual SIM handsets. Our customers are, however, still able to change SIM cards on any of the smartphones as and when needed.
Device subsidies help bridge the digital divide in many ways. Through these subsidies, we help connect customers to broadband who would otherwise not have been connected and through this, we lower the means to communicate for many of our subscribers.

You had 7 working days to return the device.

Kind Regards,
