Dual sim not supported
I entered into a contract with MTN on thursday the 29th of November 2019 for the Huawei P20 lite, my wife has the same phone I wanted to buy with another network so my decision was solely based on the fact I know some of the specs of the phone.
I just discovered the day after when I showed my wife that this phone on the MTN network does not support dual sim??? It has the slot for the second sim. After doing some reading I have discovered that MTN blocks access to the second sim???
My wife called the consultant that assisted me on the day and explained that I wanted I wanted to but the phone with all the specs nowhere does does it show on the contract or anywhere for that matter that when you are buying this phone with mtn it will come like this so my question to you MTN is, Why do you do this when it it not stated anywhere in your contracts and how can I cancel of fix this problem?I need to use 2 sim cards for personal and Business use. I refuse to carry around 2 phones when the 1 phone I own is supposed to support 2 sims!
I'm not impressed with mtn at all!!!!
" Thank you for your post.
We sincere apologized for any inconvienced caused to you.
MTN did not advertise or communicate a dual sim function to consumers MTN does not disable the dual SIM functionality on any smart phone, rather, the company only purchases 4G devices that offer single SIM functionality. The reason why the company has chosen not to support dual SIM functionality in our 4G devices relates to the extent to which MTN subsidises 4G smart phones. We choose to subsidise smart phones to make these costly devices more accessible to the public and we spend over R1 billion a year on these handset subsidies, which is why we choose not to sell dual SIM handsets. Our customers are, however, still able to change SIM cards on any of the smartphones as and when needed.
Device subsidies help bridge the digital divide in many ways. Through these subsidies, we help connect customers to broadband who would otherwise not have been connected and through this, we lower the means to communicate for many of our subscribers.
If the contract was signed with store the contract cannot be cancelled.

so basically what you are telling me is that I'm stuck with this damn phone that uses one sim and cannot cancel my contract even though your salesperson did not make it a point to make me understand all that **** you just told me.
even though you say you do not disable this function , it is disabled on my phone even the damn booklet says it is a dual sim phone.
I'm totally ****ed cause even though you do not advertise it you should make it a point to cleary point it out somewhere in your add or add a section on your contracts!!!!!
