Don't order anything it won't happen
Except for the fact that MTN has the worst reception anywhere in South Africa - the service from their stores and sales people are even worse. I have been a very loyal MTN customer for the last 20years - yes YEARS. I am due for an upgrade on my phone, I made arrangements with MTN Mall of the South to receive my phone and the watch I contacted the store well in advance. I phoned 4 times to confirm even waiting patiently when informed there is no stock. I requested the products to be ready on the 18th of December 2023. I was informed the day of that they still don't have stock. I requested to be contacted in the new year when the stock arrives. I have had no call or feedback. I physically ordered the same products in store for MTN Heidelberg mall on the 6th of January2024. I have phoned twice in the last 2 weeks where they first of all had no idea who I was or what I ordered, with the same response of we don't have stock. I again asked to make sure they order my phone and watch. Yesterday I once again physically went into the store just to be given the same blank looks when asking about the order - having no idea of which customer I am or what I ordered - again I was told there is no stock. I got upset and told the sales person (without raising my voice)that I am being ****edaround now because no one seems interested in solving the problem or confirming the order. The sales lady raised her voice at me and told me that I have no reason to be upset and that it is not their fault there is no stock. My question was if the order was placed and again I was told there is no stock. I am not an unreasonable person and I don't mind waiting for the products but as far as I can tell no actual order was placed and they are very unwilling to give me any feedback or assistance in the matter. I made the decision to cancel my contract since I am not receiving any assistance since 5 December 2023. Even cancelations are a nightmare. I hope to atleast sort that out with minimal inconvenience on my side. If this is what MTN has become I would rather take my business elsewhere.
