Don't bother trying to upgrade your contract with MTN, unless you're in the mood to be frustrated
Slightly more than 2 months ago (2/1/2023), my wife went to MTN Greenstone to upgrade my daughter's cell phone contract. Everything went smashing until she supposedly had to authenticate herself with her fingerprints, which according to Greenstone staff, was offline. She was told everything would be sorted out by 4/1, but they'll call/sms/whatsapp her with updates< which never happened. So, we duly went there again, only to be told because she's on a business contract (SBSA has an arrangement with MTN for their staff to get preferential rates) she has to be upgraded by the business consultant. What an attitude from this chap! Their aircon must also be 'broken' seeing as you can't live in there it's so hot, yet the staff are all wearing long sleeves, jackets, etc. The person we dealt with there is Ntsoaki Mokhachane who submitted request number *** After about 2 weeks of getting nowhere with Greenstone, we went into the the K90 outlet and was assisted by Morne, who also advised that Home Affairs are slow, etc. At least the temperature in this branch is not as hot as the surface of the sun. After a few weeks of back and forth (my wife also only worked in that area every second week), she made an appointment to go and see him on Saturday 4/2 only to be told they've got loadshedding once we arrived. Certainly you'd know when you've got loadshedding and not annoy someone even further by wasting their time on a Saturday morning? Another few weeks of empty, broken promises passed until my wife eventually went there on 1/3. The supervisor lady then proceeded to tell my her, no it's because according to TransUnion, she's overcommitted and unable to afford the monthly fee. This is the same contract she's been paying for the past two years, so surely she's proven affordability? Seeing as her contract has run it's two year tenure, MTN is now charging us more as it's on a month-to-month basis, according to Morne; so much for being concerned with affordability. Needless to say, we're at the end of our tether, thus as a final resort posting on this platform.
