Don't bother getting a contract at MTN

Honestly, could not recommend MTN less! Two weeks ago (5 November 2025), someone was able to transact on my account without an OTP and was able to change the registered phone number on file. I phoned MTN the same day and opened a case of *****. I was promised a Reference number by the end of the day. Two weeks later, I've had no correspondence, no reference number, no follow ups from MTN.

I phoned again this morning, and was told I'd be CCd in on an email (didn't happen), I was also told that I've been effectively locked out of my account, because they cannot assist me without an OTP. When I pointed out how someone else was able to do so without an OTP, I was simply apologised to and told to go in-store. I refused because if someone else could do so without an in-store visit, why should I? I was then told I'd be transferred to the correct department who can assist me, and then the phone just cut after being on the phone for more than 30 minutes!
