Does anyone actually answer the phones?

I noticed that I had a zero balance on my airtime (I am on a MyMTN? 350). I am overseas at the moment, have my phone with me all the time and haven't made any calls. I was in CT for a few days in between trips and I tried over 5 times to get through. Each time after holding for about 5 minutes I was cut off. I send an email to customer care. I get a response saying that they will get back ot me in 5 working days. In the meantime, someone is using my phone and has not only depleted a R700+ credit, but I get an sms from MTN to say that my credit limit has been reached and my line has been suspended. How am I to sort out someone *****ing my airtime, without having my phone cut off, if there is absolutely now way I can talk to anyone. I am at my wits end.

Hello holly2,

We are truly sorry for the inconvenience caused and for the delayed response to your post.

We can confirm that your airtime was not being used up by someone else. When roaming overseas and you receive calls, the charge for the call is deducted from your airtime or billed to your account. Also note that the recipient is also billed for the call. When someone tries to call you and they reach your voicemail, you will also be billed for the call from the available airtime or charged to your account. The messages regarding your credit limit was sent after the available airtime was used up.

We will suggest in future that you make use of our Live Chat service, we have agents available from Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm and Saturdays from 7am to 1pm. Please copy the link below into your web browser, type in your cell-phone number, click on next and wait for the chat window to appear:
