DO NOT TAKE A CONTRACT WITH MTN BUSINESS

In July 2023, I received a call from MTN Business with the consultant being Fardeen Mahomed. He sold me additional minutes and data on the contract I already have with them, only to recevie two additional SIM Cards and the data one was for a router (router not supp****, also, I was clear I already have WiFi and wanted additional data for my phone). After weeks of back and forth and being debited twice for a service I have not received (including prorata), and an escalation from my part to Ramothopo Maake, I had to buy another phone to accommodate these SIM cards and a new data sim was sent to me to rectify the router mess. Although I was unhappy as this was still not what I had asked for in the first place, I agreed to it as I understand we make mistakes and I still wanted the additional data. On top of all this I received unRICA’d SIM cards, so I had to go in store to RICA my SIM cards, which I fail to understand how Business Contract Sim Cards left the premises of MTN without being RICA’d, over and above that the courier company takes a copy of my ID and fingerprint to verify that it is me, yet I still have to go in store to RICA the sim.

17 August Ramothopo Maake and I agreed on the additional data contract which was R149 per month; which was the one to replace the mess of the original data contract, this went well and was fine, until I got a bill for over R397.44 in September and I queried this (I am still awaiting feedback on the 2nd of November). I then notified Ramothopo that I will not be paying this amount as this is not what we agreed upon, especially considering I have 2 payments made for 2 months of services not received and I did not make that payment. I follow up every week and still get no answer and get referred to Xolani Kubeka, who still has not given me feedback. Week of 23 October, I call Xolani and ask for feedback and still not get any and I notify him that I have also just received an invoice now for R652.94 which he says he will sort out.

It is now 2nd November, MTN has deducted R652.94 from my account for Lord knows what, Ramothopo and Xolani are not answering my emails, messages or calls and I am more than angry. My credit score has been affected for a mess caused by MTN, I have been deducted more than what was agreed upon and I have yet to receive the refund/compensation promised to me by Ramothopo for the first issue with the Data contract.

End September I instructed Xolani to cancel my contracts because clearly MTN has no idea what they are doing and to my surprise, I still get deducted. I want answers from MTN, I want this sorted NOW and I want a refund for my money, time taken, inconvenience and the fact that I have to be the one calling and following up EVERY SINGLE TIME is not what customer service should be. After the service received I firmly believe the organisation does not strive to live to it’s brand promise, vision, mission and I am appalled by the service I have received thus far and I struggle to understand how they go around making promises they cannot keep.

UPDATE: Today is 27 November and they have deducted again from my account and I have still to receive feedback from them!
