Do anyone at MYN know how to resolve my query?
On 29 April 2019, I bought the R249 SMART phone special from the MTN store in 3 Simmonds Street Johannesburg. During the transaction, I noted that the phone had no SIM card and I asked the sales person and was told I can insert ANY SIM card into the phone, they did NOT specify if it had to be a Prepaid or Contract SIM card. She also informed me that the MTN network would identify the phone being activated and I will receive the data due from the purchase of the phone. As of today, I have not received any of the data. Upon going back to the store to query this I was informed that this phone I purchase was not part of the special. In addition, the sales person did not issue me with a payment advice, I was informed since I paid with my Debit Card, and the Debit card slip is sufficient proof of purchase. All I require is the data due to me, I am prepared to go and purchase a prepaid SIM card, however, I had a phone call of one of the MTN technical staff (Mary), who advice that a new prepaid SIM card will not work as the phone has already been activated with a contract SIM.
I phoned 135 and they informed me to send an e-mail to ********** who in turned advise me to query ********** who in turn advise me to query ********** who in turn informed me to query ********** again… I am just really going around in circles with this query as the in department after the other department is just shifting the responsibility! I seem that MTN don’t know how to resolve this matter or the so called promotional data is just a marketing ploy…
This is really frustrating dealing with MTN with the matter as each time you get a response from one of the consultants you need to explain the entire story to them…
Did go back to the store and they not willing to assist me… The store was in breach of the Client Consumer Act, as they DID not explain the terms and conditions to me.
Furthermore, since they did not give me an invoice for my purchase I see this as a ********** transaction and would like to escalate this to the MTN ***** department or do I need to go to the SAPS and open a ***** case against MTN?
