Dissatisfied MTN client..
Having the option to finally upgrade my Home wi-fi/ Data package that expired in July 2024, I already prior to this phoned around to find out what deals are suitable for me going forward. I was advised to look at MTN's convenient Month-to-Month packages by public members. Since I am outlying (Gouritsmond), and the closest store to me is in Mosselbay. I was advised by MTN store staff to wait for the exact date to do the upgrade otherwise I will have to pay extra fees etc. At the same time I was advised by MTN Sales (online) to take in the router I currently have, from the previous expired package, to a store, and then just go ahead and get my new router and month to month deal going. When I asked whether I can get the upgrade done online I was innitially told that due to the migration from a standard contract to the month to month plans I need to visit a store. Went to MTN in Mosselbay where I was told another story. I sat with the customer assistant in the store where we attempted to get hold of customer services to get instructions. From my understanding deratanding the expired plan/package had to be cancelled and then the upgrade will be done. I left this store with advice that I should contact MTN Customer Services on 135 the following Monday because it could be because it was a Saturday where the issue lies. In the meantime I am beyond my cut off for my previous plan window and started paying default contract fees. After struggling to get hold of any Service Champions via the 135 portal I ended up speaking to a service adviser I was told various stories again. When I made it clear that according to advice from both store/online staff, which essentially became very confusing as it progressed, that I had to cancel the previous(expired) plan in order to migrate to the new month to month plan. At this point I have sent several mails and spoke to several staff, from Vaal Mall/Mosselbay to online staff, and nothing was happening and I am being given the chase around. Remember, at the same time my old plan was already past the promo price of R429, and now at R729. My patience was beyond done at this stage. All I want to do is cancel my old plan and go to a new plan as it is my right. When I eventually spoke to a call center adviser Christina Simlanie, which was quite helpful and patient with my impatience I was told that the balance on my old contract was R969, and then in order for me to to move onto the new plan I had pay R640 odd immediately, which I did for the new router to be delivered, and then the pro-rata amount on my debit date. A week later I received the new router, did the sim insert and set-up and thought life would return to normal. Nope, barely a week after this I woke up only to find that I was without Wi-Fi. When I contacted the various departments I was told that my contract was cancelled and that my sim is now a pay-as-you only. My immediate thought was that the cancellation overrode the upgrade. On the 23/10/2024 I spoke to Christina Similanie again to find out what happened, and it was confirmed that my contract cancellation indeed overode the upgrade. And that my account has credit that I should get refunded in order to make the upgrade more viable. She claimed that credited amount can't be used or taken into consideration for the new package/plan. So about R2000 later, after settling the final installment on my expired contract/plan, paying for a new router and then the pro-rata I am now stuck with no Wi-Fi again. And a new router that is useless! When I spoke to lady at the call center, Peliswa Peter her instruction to me was to take the router to a store, have it loaded onto the system and do the contract as if it is new? According to her my account was credited an amount of R429. I went to a store again only to ne told that they cant help me and that the department I spoke to innitially must sort it out. I then spoke to Pamela at accounts, the same day, that processed the refund. Now 2 weeks later I am still without Wi-Fi and then when I contacted both a store and MTN Sales/Customer Care this morning I was told that I would be contacted asap! At the time of this mail no one has contacted me. And then I have to find out that there was an amount of R286.19 charged to my account as pro-rata for a R29 add-on to my existing R149 voice bundle? I might have dates and timeline incorrect due to the confusion of this all, but I feel since before July when I went about to get the upgrade going I was given the run around and I feel victimised financially. All this when all I wanted to do is upgrade my plans, migrate to month to month and enjoy MTN services. I have been loyal to the company since the early 2000's. I am not very happy with how this was dealt with. And still is dealt with, as I am still not connected, my requests still not addressed and still not getting any support...
