Dissatisfied about warranty

Today I went to MTN to get help with my hauwei p8 lite 2017 since it fell and my whole screen cracked,so I asked and all I got was we can send it away and you will get a quote between 2500 and 3000,my question is what's the point of a warranty when my contract is not even 1 year old I am disappointed because now I have to spend so much on a phone that's under warranty and not even 3000 worth on the market,now I am forced to either get another contract or pay all that money I am really disappointed,I asked if I can insure my device and minimize the cost,nooooo I had only 14 days to do so now what's the ****** use of mtn's do the bozza thing,I refuse to use my phone for the following 2 years with a screen as cracked as it is
