Dissatisfactory and revolting service form MTN.
I got my cellphone contract with MTN on the 11th of August 2020, a week-to-two I hadn't received communication from MTN, my monthly data packages and the 20GB promotional data. I then went back to the Westgate branch and asked why, a lady then said she had escalated it for me and assured me that I would have received my data by the end of the day. Two days later I still hadn't received anything, I then called the call centre and I was told that my number was not registered as a contract number. I asked why, and I was told that proper capturing wasn't done, I then asked what the way forward was and I was given a reference number. 3 consultants later over 5 days, I receive my data. It was all my efforts to communicate with MTN not once did they call back to enquire if my query had been solved. This was my first issue with MTN. Secondly, Mpho an in-store consultant from the MTN Westgate Branch who helped me set up my contract said that the debit order date would be the 1st of every month starting from the 1st of September 2020. The 1st of September went by without a debit order going off, I gave them 5 days to debit and still nothing. The following week I went back in store to ask why a debit order didn't go off and Mpho checked on the system and he had actually set it for the 25th of September. Already that's an inconvenience because I wanted it go off on the first of every month. So, I say to him, please set it for the last day of every month starting from the last day of October. For the month of September, it's fine you guys can debit on the 25th but the months following that, I want it on the last day of every month. We agreed. On the 25th a debit order went off, which is the agreed date. Then, again in the 31st I was debited AGAIN. I was billed twice in one billing cycle. HOW? I obviously reverse the second debit order because I know I have made payment and I'm also not in arrears as this was my first billing cycle. On Sunday, the 11th I woke up a phone without network. I restarted my phone and nothing happened, so I decided to call the MTN call centre. I spoke to an agent, Amahle whom I explained to that I don't have any network and she told me that my line was suspended. I asked why? She said because you have an outstanding amount which didn't go through on the 31st of September. I told her that it impossible that I had an outstanding amount as they succesfully debited on the 25th of September. When I tried explaining to her all that I've written in this rant, she just kept saying the connection is bad. I asked her to transfer me to an agent that would be more interested in hearing me out as she was making no efforts and she put me on hold and I eventually hung up because I figured she was not transferring me. I called again and I spoke to an agent named Ncqabi, whom I tell what transpired with the previous agent and Ncqabi asked me to explain what actually happened. And I explained everything to her and she understood and agreed that the fault was their end. I asked if they could open my lines seeing that I was not in arrears, she told me that she can't override the system because it needs to be investigated so, for the time being she would schedule a promise to pay for the 14th of October and between 2-24 hours I should have recieved a call from an agent, and should I not, I must call Tuesday afternoon to ask what the progress is. She instructed me to switch off my phone for 10 minutes and when I switch it back on, it should be fine.
On Tuesday, the 13th I called in again and I spoke to an agent named Nontobeko whom I explained everything to again (I don't even think hey write notes down on previous conversations) and she said she'd just extend the promise to pay to the last day of this month because it actually takes 3-7 working days for them to investigate. After getting off the call with her my phone was blocked again! I switch my phone off for 15 minutes, just like I did on Sunday and when I switched it on it was still blocked. I called in again and spoke to another agent named Malusi who gave me nothing
