DISHONSETY & ********* & UNPROFESSIONAL CONDUCT
On or around April 2020, I was contact by an MTN consultant whp offered me a data package on contract. I was advised that the said contract would expire after two years and the monthly subcription fee was agreed at R199 and that it would only be overcharged with an amount of R1.00 meaning i would not under any circumstances pay more than R200 per month under the contract. I was only surprised at some point when my account was debted R210 which was more than the agreed fee, I contacted them about it I was given an explain which I did not understand nonetheless I continued paying and using their services until expiry of the contract between us. I was surprised when a month after expiry of the two year contract was debited with an amount twice higher than the actual agreed fee has per the now expired contract. in view of the fact that there was no existing contract between myself and MTN i went to the bank and reversed the debit order and cancelled it as there was no agreement to it. I was surprised to receive a notification from debit collectors notifying me that my account had been handed over, there was no prior communication of this from MTN whatsoever. I then went to MTN Tzaneen Lifestyle today the 22 July 2023 to try and get clarification as to how why my account has been handed over when the contract expired and they had not loaded the sim card with any data since expiry however I was received by a very rude and unprofessional consultant by the name of Theresa, who did not even bother to listen to me, she instead directed me to call customercare as she I qoute " I am not MTN" unquote. I asked here to contact customer service so I can get clarity but instead she refused and said its called customercare not consultantcare so she will not contact anyone nor provide me with any information relating to my account. She then said it was my duty to contact them and ask why they had debited a higher account and that I should have called them and advised them on expiry of the contract that i was cancelling the contract. I explained to her that legally the agreement between I and MTN had expired and there was no legal obligation for me to advise them anything. They did not even communicate with me prior to handing over the account for collection and i further explained to her that i was never advised that I had to contact MTN and tell them Im cancelling the agreement, clearly I was misled. I later received an sms from the debt collectors stating that i should pay R1500, under the heading NOTICE OF TERMINATION OF SERVICE. Im surprised as there is no service being rendered to me by MTN and their rude employee Theresa stationed at Liestyle Tzaneen MNT. There is no clarity as to the cretiria they foolowed in arriving at the amount of R1500 this is claer gambling on the part of MTN.
