Good morning Ayesha
Thank you for your post.
MTN SP After Sales is accredited to assess and perform cellular repairs under strict manufacturer guidelines and as such, specific criteria is app**** when assessing devices to validate warranty.
This is done in accordance with procedures laid down by each manufacturer. Liquid damage – Warranty Voided. Beyond Repair (BR) and repairs are not attempted. Prior to any repairs being undertaken, every device is disassembled and the liquid indicators and circuit boards are thoroughly inspected under microscope for liquid. Any traces of liquid found immediately voids all forms of warranty resulting in the device being BR (beyond repair) in accordance with manufacturer warranty policy.
The handset does not necessarily have to be splashed, soaked or immersed in liquid to be deemed liquid damaged. Excessive humidity and slight moisture can just be as damaging to the circuit tracks on the board.
When a device has liquid spotted, at times with a use of a microscope: The micro tracks, plug in points and circuitry that are affected by liquid, are already weakened by the corrosive activity, leading to short circuits and applications ultimately failing to function and the device will show signs of progressive deterioration.
Please feel free to read the Limited warranty statement brochure supp**** with the handset pack, or Blackberry website for guidance.
Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.
