Disappointing service at MTN

Had a sim only contract with MTN and everything was great except for them debiting my account. I always call their call center and they always assure me the debit order has been set. I would wait for it till I decide to pay manually as they threaten to stop their services or when they have been stopped. This is something I had to go through each and every month until a lady who was assisting me said I should stop making manual payments as I am interfering with their debit order process. I followed her advice and they still never did debit successfully. I was out of the country at the time and never thought the bill would pile up as I was not using their services but it did and I had no problem with paying. So I paid R4912 in September of 2024 and tried to do a sim swap but they told me to wait for 2 weeks. I had to leave in a week so I didn’t do it. Came back in June and was now told I can’t do the sim swap because my account was handed over. I called the call centre they told me it’s with Nutun Collectors and when I called them they said they have no detail of me in their system. Had to call the call centre again and they then said they had fixed it. I went back to MTN for a sim swap because I was told to and they said it’s still blocked and I should come back in a week. I did that and was told I needed to wait for 21 days. I did that and I was told the system cannot generate an OTP and I should come back in a week. I came back again and was told something I didn’t understand and that I should come back after 24 hours. I stay 70km away from the store and have to use fuel to get there.

I have been inconvenienced a lot by MTN. My account was handed over not because I failed to pay but because they failed to debit. I paid 12 months ago and my app still shows that I owe. I wasted a lot of money trying to do a simple sim swap.

I am not happy with their service and at this point I need to be refunded with my R4912 as it has not even been allocated yet
