Deplorable customer service

I've been a contract mobile subscriber for the past 20 years, and have made use of the same mobile number ever since. After making financial arrangements to have my account payment settled by the 15 October 2016, on arriving in Cape Town at 08h00 on the morning of the 11 October 2016, on a business trip, I was pleasantly surprised to find out that my services had been suspended. I travelled to Cavendish Square shopping Centre, knowing that MTN had a mobile store within the centre, and arrived just as the store was being opened, and was attended to by a helpful young attendant, who validated that the arrangements had been made, and was reflecting on their Eppix system. He called MTN's call centre who confirmed that they would reactivate my mobile and that it would be activated within and hour or two.

I attended various meetings, and at 12h30, my mobile was still not activated. I then travelled to Century City, to another MTN store, and went through the exact same procedure, needless to say, my mobile was still not activated by the time I left for Johannesburg at 20h00 that evening.

On the morning of the 13th, I went to the MTN store in Eastgate and was attended to by Rapule, where I paid the amount due including an addition R 500-00, and was assured that my mobile would be reconnected in an hour or two. After numerous calls and messages to Rapule, who hasn't had the courtesy to reply to my many messages, and probably thinks that it’s not his job to resolve this matter! The question that needs asking, is, are there any competent staff members at MTN that have the ability to rectify my position? Clearly not, by what I've had to endure over the past week.

I've tried calling MTN's call centre, now that’s a joke! the numerous calls that were made, were never answered after holding for a call centre agent for no less that 20-28 minutes. Why offer a call centre service when the calls aren’t answered? If the call centre is under staffed, then employ staff to fulfil the needs of your customers! If you’ve employed *********** staff that don’t know how to assist your call-in customers within a specific time frame, then get rid of them and employ people that have the ability to offer the services needed to offer proper customer service.

I've been a loyal subscriber for the past 20 years, and if this is the way a loyal subscriber is valued, then a change of mobile service provider will be forthcoming.
