Deceived by MTN Employees
I write this email having reached a point of total disbelief, anger and resentment at the manner in which I have been treated by MTN. MTN have repeatedly ignored my requests for the contact details of a responsible person.
On the 19th September, I went to the MTN Branch at the Rosebank Mall as my contract had expired and I wished to renew.
My previous instrument had been a Huawei, but due to the amount of NEGATIVE press around challenges Huawei were experiencing, I wanted to ensure that I would have access to all of the Apps which I used – Discovery; LinkedIn; Google etc.
The two people who assisted me in the store both strongly recommended the Huawei P40 Lite – advising my wife and I that all Apps were available and in no way would I be negatively affected if I acquired the P40 Lite.
I specifically asked, again, if the Discovery App was available as I needed a new wrist device – I was advised that it was and as a result I included a Huawei Watch in my new contract.
On Monday, 21st September, after querying why I could not access the Discovery App with a consultant at Discovery, I was advised that the Discovery App was not available for the P40 Lite and they could not advise as to when it would be available for the P40 Lite – I immediately contacted the MTN Call Centre and after explaining the situation to 2 different consultants, was advised that a Supervisor would call me back within the hour – 5 DAYS LATER AND I AM STILL WAITING!
I then sent a complaint, online, to which I received a reply, asking for the store I attended – to which I rep**** with the requested information. 2 days later I was advised that the Rosebank store manager would call me - needless to say, I have heard nothing!
The contract I concluded was done so after receiving false and misleading information from MTN personnel – at all times they were aware that they were not being truthful and furthermore they were aware that if they had furnished me with the correct information, I would not have concluded the agreement. Surely it cannot be official MTN policy to mislead customers; ignore their complaints and encourage their employees to conclude sales, even if it means lying and deceiving?
Perhaps what I find more irritating than being deceived, is the fact that MTN cares so little about their customers that they cannot be bothered to even make contact!!!!
