Debited after expiry of contract

<p>My 24 month contract with MTN ended July 9th 2016, I called a 60 days prior to this date to advise I didn't want to renew th contract, I was instructed to call the day after expiry of the contract (10th July 2016) this is despite Clause 2.1 in the terms and conditions of contract but I was refused assistance and was told that cancellations can only be done the day after expiry of the contract. I did as instructed and my number was converted prepaid on Monday 11th July. On the 29th July I received a debit order from MTN for R1340.</p> <p>This is roughly 1.5 times more than the monthly subscription I ordinarily paid. I called the call centre to gain clarity and was told by Puleng that I had received my benefits for the month of July and that's why I had been charged and that I should have called to cancel the contract some 30 days prior to it expiring (In contradiction of what I had previously been told by MTN service agents). </p> <p>I disagree that I should be charged R1340 for 100MB and 100 Minutes.... Which I don't even get the benefit of after the contract expired, I believe a pro-rata of the subscription is due to MTN however I am not getting any joy from the call centre and have since reversed the debit order and issued stop payment instructions until someone can clarify how this amount was arrived at. </p>
