Death and MTN payments that cant get cancelled

If I could rate them as -1 i would . My father passed away and we have submitted the forms to cancel his contract already in August 2025, The email response says they will respond within 24 to 48 hours , which has not yet happened for the last 8 months.. no call. no follow up, no resolution, but they expect us to pay the monthly subscription for an unused phone. i hope someone looks a this and decides to rather use a different service provider than Mtn, you will keep paying even after your death .
