DEAD PHONE NEVER RETURNED FROM REPAIRS DEPARTMENT

I took my phone in on the 5 May 2018 to Westgate Branch MTN as my cellphone of only 11 months went dead suddenly.

I received an sms on the 14 May 2018 saying I need to pay R3911.50 for my phone which is ridiculous as the phone is not even worth half that amount. I phoned the Repairs department and was told that my motherboard was scratched and 3 *****s missing and seal broken. Maybe one of the technicians did it accidently as my previous phone to this one was also damaged and was told I did some damage to it which I never did but luckily I was able to pay. It is not good that after two Samsungs that this keeps happening.

I rejected this payment and asked for my damaged phone to be returned as I am paying for it via contract. I have not seen this phone since. I am prepared to let it be kept by repairs for parts but then hopefully I should receive some kind of money back as I am paying for it on contract or my phone be returned to me.

I intend to cancel my contract after 15 to 20 years being with MTN as this is the 2nd phone I have received that after a few months something happens to it.

Does one cancel the IMEI of the phone if it is unable to be repaired?

Thank you and can someone please attend to this matter.
