In May 2020, I went to a MTN store. Before I went, I called to enquire if I can open a contract online as we were still on Level 4 at the stage. I was told that my fingerprint was needed to do the application. I went to the store, which is about 30kms from my home. The application was done in store. However, I was informed that the system was faulty and that the consultant would complete the application the following day. I left all my documentation at the store and was told my fingerprint is not needed. Four days after not hearing anything, I returned to the store to follow up on the process of application. The same consultant told me that application is still pending, I don't need to come to the store, I will be contacted when device is ready for collection. I was also told I would get the same deal as I did the application in May. Days passed, and I tried to call the store numerous times. My own device was laying beside me on loudspeaker whilst working.trying to get through. No answer. I returned to the store after many days of failed attempts trying to get hold of the store. On arrival, I was informed that the consultant who assisted me, does not work for MTN anymore. No record of my application was on system. No record of my documents were at the store. I had to reapply. Application was approved. Consultant let me know that the device I am need for, is out of stock. He Recommends another one but that is not the one I need. I agree to wait for them to source the device from another branch. On the 1st of July I sent an email to follow up on progress. We have almost reached the end of July and I have not heard from the store consultant, nor manager whom I ccd in the email. I cannot get through to the store via land-line. It is pretty expensive to take a random drive every now and then to follow up on a device that has been advertised in the MTN catalogue since May 2020 and yet I have not received it. It is unacceptable. It is false advertising??
