**************** FROM MTN!

I have been with MTN for the past 8 years and 2 years ago I took out a contract with them on black Friday (R299 for 60GB of data p/m). MTN's consultant called me and the contract was accepted telephonically and all went well until recently when my contract lapsed. I started receiving sms from MTN that I was owing on my account when the full amount had been paid so I called the call centre and a very rude Consultant told me that according to my contract, once the 2 years for the contact have lapsed, I will start paying the standard fee for data. MTN basically started charging me R1 129.00 for data which is basically R830.00 more than what I was paying, without any Consultation with me! Firstly, I didn't get a copy of the contract, neither via email or post and the Consultant who concluded this contract with me NEVER said that I would be paying more once my contract had lapsed. I have had contracts before with MTN that have lapsed before this one and they deducted the exact same amount after the contracts had lapsed until I upgraded. This is **************** from MTN! As a Consumer, if there are going to be any changes on my account, I expect to be the first one to know and obviously make an informed decision on whether I accept the changes or not. I was at the MTN store in Queenswood, Pretoria and the Consultant who assisted me advised that they are dealing with quite a lot of complaints of this nature and they obviously let me know that we were being treated unfairly as Consumers. A query was logged for me to dispute the charges on the account and today I get an sms advising that my ticket had been closed without any explanation of what the outcome of the query was. As a consumer, I don't mind paying for what I use as long as I accept the charges and not having charges being imposed on me anyhow. Can MTN explain why they have decided to rob clients in the name of hiding behind a contract:
