DATA THEFT and OVER BILLING
I do not have words to describe my utter frustration and disgust with MTN. I have 2 data simcards of which one is in my tablet. for months I barely used the available data and had bills of no more than R75. Suddenly from December i am lumped with accounts of R3800 and R6000 for January. On review of the URL it is clear that the data is used for torrent downloads from a site that I do not even know. The amazing thing is that my tablet is constantly on wifi at home/office where I have uncapped ADSL data.
What is more disgusting is that Mr Rabelani treats me like I am the ******** and that I have to provide proof that I did not download the torrents. How does anyone do that?
Oh and hold on this gets better. My credit limit was upped from R75 to in excess of R3000 without my approval or even notification.
WHAT HAPPENED TO TREAT CUSTOMERS FAIR

Please advise how to proceed with logging a complaint with ICASA or the relevant ombudsman. I will also be cancelling all accounts with a network operator that is unable to protect its clients from *****, and that elects to treat us like the *********.
Thank you for your post.
We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it causes.
Kindly be advised that your charges have been validated correct and usage was generated directly from your sim number. The URL report has a date and time in column A. You will need to compare the URL report to your Itemised bill to determine what website was accessed to generate those charges.
If you were connecting to the Wi-Fi there should not be any cost incurred, but please ensure that the cellular connection is switched off on your device when using the Wi-Fi, else your device may just connect via the cellular network instead of the Wi-Fi which will incur charges.
We trust that the above mentioned is beneficial to you. Please feel free to contact us by dialing 808 should you require additional information.
Kind Regards
