Dear Tatum,

Thank you so much for the patience and understanding you’ve displayed during this most regrettable situation. For myself and on behalf of MTN, please accept my sincere apology for the inconvenience caused.

Kindly note we have reviewed your usage and do not see any thing irregular.

Here is a few tips that you can use to manage and save data usage going forward.

Steps to conserve mobile data on your Samsung Galaxy S7 edge

Follow the steps in each of the sections below to configure your phone to use less mobile data:

Manage Data usage

Your phone has an option specifically for managing mobile data usage:

From the home screen, tap Apps.
Scroll to and tap Settings.
Tap Data usage. You will see a graph displaying your monthly mobile data usage.
Tap to enable the Set mobile data limit switch.
An orange bar will appear in the data usage graph. Tap and slide the bar to your monthly mobile data limit.
Tap MORE.
Tap Restrict background data.
Tap OK.
Tap the Back key to return to Settings.

Wi-Fi

Data usage while connected to a Wi-Fi network doesn't count against your mobile data limit. Be sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi network whenever one is available:

From the Settings menu, tap Wi-Fi.

Note: If needed, tap to toggle the Wi-Fi switch to ON.

Tap the preferred Wi-Fi network.
Enter any required password, then tap CONNECT.
Tap the Back key to return to Settings.

Note: Your phone will remember networks it was previously connected to, and will automatically connect whenever one of those networks is in range.

Account synchronization

Your phone automatically syncs account data to and from the internet. Disable any unneeded account synchronization options:

From the Settings menu, scroll to and tap Accounts.
Tap an account type.Note: If necessary, tap the account name to proceed.
Tap to toggle the switches of any unneeded synchronization options to OFF.
Tap the Back key once or twice to return to the Accounts screen.
Repeat as needed for all accounts.
Press the Home key when finished.

Email

Your phone checks for email regularly, which uses mobile data. Be sure it is only checking for email when needed:

From the home screen, tap Email.
Tap MORE.
Tap Settings.
Tap your email account.
Scroll to and tap Sync schedule.
Tap Set sync schedule.
Tap the preferred sync schedule.

Note: If you set your sync schedule to Manual, you will only receive email when you manually refresh your inbox.

Tap to enable or disable Peak schedule as needed.

Note: If Peak schedule is enabled, be sure to set your peak schedule as well.

Tap the Back key three times to return to your inbox.

Background applications

Applications left running in the background can sometimes use mobile data. It is recommended to periodically check for and close running applications:

From the home screen, tap the Recent Apps key.
Swipe an app to either side to close it, or tap CLOSE ALL.
If needed, press the Home key when finished.

How can I use less data on Instagram?

By default, Instagram preloads videos so they start faster whenever possible. If you want to reduce the amount of cellular data the Instagram app uses, you can choose not to have Instagram preload videos over cellular connections.

To use less data on Instagram:

Go to your profile by tapping
Tap in the top-right corner and then tap Cellular Data Use
Under Use Less Data.
If you choose to use less data, videos may take longer to load over a cellular connection. Choosing to use less data won't affect the way Instagram works when you're using WiFi.

Adjusting your app settings to reduce Facebook data usage.

Now, this is the first step that you should undertake if you're worried that Facebook is using too much data. Coincidentally, this is also the easiest thing you can do. If you share a lot of photos and videos on Facebook, this might be the root cause of your data woes. As might be the (super annoying) video auto playing feature.

To curb this unnecessary data usage, you'll need to do the following:

Inside the Facebook app, tap on the hamburger menu on the right hand side and scroll down to App Settings.
Tap on App Settings and you'll see a list of toggle features. Untoggle 'Upload photos in HD' and 'Upload Videos in HD'.
To disable the dreaded Facebook video auto-play feature, tap on Auto-play.
Now you can choose if, when and how videos will now auto-play in your Facebook feed.

I hope you find the above information beneficial.

Thank you.
