******* MTN holding me hostage.
I was a loyal MTN customer for many years and had to cancel after some very bad experiences. They have done some questionable things to me in the past but I've always turned the other cheek. For instance poor reception, or my airtime balance would fluctuate daily, sometimes even hourly but that's okay. Each time you try to raise an issue, you'll be put on hold till you run out of patience and give. That's pretty much how they have gotten away with so much till now. But when they double-debited my account for no explicable reason...i decided enough!. I tried to get an explanation and give them an opportunity to fix the problem but they just blew me off. They can'r even keep their lie straight because at first they told me they failed to debit my account 'some month'. They can't even tell me the month. And when I checked my account, they have been debiting me every single month. And them they changed tack, claiming they're now billing me in advance. Whatever that means. I know margins are tight at this point but there's no reason to ever resort to ********** means to get ahead of the competition. The fact that they never did after I informed them of this irregularity now speaks to the malicious nature of how they conduct their business. If this is how they treat their clients, then God help us! And the worst of my experience was when I informed them I was cancelling my contract,. They put you on hold for close to an hour (hoping you'll just run out of patience an quit), and they wanted me to call a nearly half a dozen times. Can't tell whether cancellation call center has a lot of cancellations to work through or short-stuffed. Either way, it's very revealing. Now when I finally have my contract 'terminated' they sent me an ominous text message: 'Failed to migrate Price plan due to reaching the maximum number of prepaid subscriptions'. So, basically, I cannot leave their network and can't use the airtime that was loaded for the month, despite the fact that I was billed for the entire month. Wow, what a business model. This company has no shame. So thank you hellopeter, I'll be giving more updates on my refund. For now, I was wanna be free to join a network of my choice.
Kindest Regards
