Contravention of the Consumer Protection Act
Refer to my query below and your reply. Increase in contract pricing contravenes the CP Act as you did not give me notice of the increase and the option to continue or cancel the contract. I will report MTN to the Consumer Commission for investigation.

Cell no. ***. I signed a 2 year contract in November 2013 for R 290.49 monthly. Up until April 2015, I was been correctly charged with R 290.49 but from May 2015 I am been charged R 300.49. Why is there an increase if my contract states R 290.49? This is in breach of contract and would I appreciate a refund of the amounts over charged and an explanation of how MTN can just change the amount of the contract without consent from me. Also, I have been trying to speak to an operator about this, but it's impossible to get through to your call centre, as the call is always dropped!!!

SUPPLIER'S RESPONSE Mtn Time and Date 15:49:04 | Wed 5 Aug 15

Kindly be advised that the contract pricing was revised effective from the 13th of May 2015 and it is applicable to both existing and new contract subscribers. MTN reserves the right to review and update contract pricing as per MTN's subscriber contract.

Regards,
Ayanda
REQ:***
