CONTRACT NOT TERMINATED 3 MONTHS LATER

My husband app**** for a contract for me in September 2013. After I received a message that I was due for upgrade in 2015, my husband went in-store to terminate my contract as we would not be getting a fixed income any longer. He was told that we would just have to pay until the 25th month for the contract - we accepted this. We then went in-store after that time and asked them to terminate the contract. We were then told that we have to contact the retentions office to do so. I went on the MTN website to get the number, called, but the number didn't exist.I finally got hold of someone from MTN who gave me the correct details. We emailed and got automated response's yet no help that I needed immediately. The responses have been too lagged. We got billed the 26th & 27th month. <br> We have now cancelled the debit order. I cannot help but feel that this is MTN's way of milking it's customers. There should be a more effective way of cancelling contracts. Not everyone wants debt.

Hello JadeChante,

Thank you for your post.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with our service.

Thank you for your time online. We have picked up the request for the cancellation via email to the cancellation department, the account will be credited for the November and and December invoice due to the cancellation not done. We have explained to you that if we migrate the number to prepaid now all data and airtime will be lost on the sim card. I have requested that you first used the data and airtime on the sim card, once used up you can give me a call to convert the number to prepaid. Please use the data and airtime before the 13th of January due to the new data and airtime allocation on the 14th of every month.

Kind Regards,

Alice van der Merwe
