Contract Expiry

My contract has expired on the 18 May 2022, I contacted MTN in January, February, March and April 2022, asking them on what is the process to cancel and retain number as a prepaid. I was told a lot of different things, now I have managed to cancel but to my shock the debit amount has increased. I have sent many emails to their complaints department but no one has responded.
