CONTRACT CANCELLED WITHIN 7 DAYS, MTN STILL CHARGING ME
Good Day
I took out a 4G SIM only deal on MTN in around August 26 2021. The Account Number allocated is BA*** this was done via BuyMondo. The agent checked coverage as said there is coverage in Thembisa.
The agent gave a list of compatible LTE Routers, and I told her I am using a Huawei B535-932 and she said it is compatible, cause she made sure that the SIM can only be used in a compatible device. Indeed DSV delivered the SIM and I immediately waited for 48 for the SIM to be activated. I then received an sms confirming that the SIM has been activated.
I inserted the SIM into the Router slot and light turned red, realising this, I tried another router, B612 which was due for collection by Supersonic. The SIM worked and then the light turned red. I contacted BuyMondo they said the SIM has been blocked because I changed devices. I then inserted the SIM into the Huawei B535-932 and still, it did not work. I contacted MTN Directly and they confirmed that the SIM is not compatible with the device and they advised that I should cancel.
I cancelled within 7 days and was given the Reference number RCO133260 and that the deal will be cancelled and I presumed that all is in order. On August 30 2021, I sent another email, which was subsequently followed by another email to the Retentions Department at MTN on 24/08/2021, 09/09/2021 and 14/09/2021. Then I was told that I must also call *** to cancel accordingly.
Then I made follows up again on October 03 2021, again on 04/01/2022. All responses are the same, the matter has been escalated to MTN as per BuyMondo. When I sent emails to MTN customer care, all I would get was a standard system response and the issue remains unresolved. On August 22 2022 (a year later), I managed to speak to Mondo and they confirmed that they have cancelled the "collection status" on their side and that this has been conveyed to MTN.
On the other hand, I have sent emails to the Collections Department, and as usual, MTN has not resolved this issue, despite Mondo confirming that the contract has been cancelled as per RCO133260. The problem is MTN keeps on sending me e-mails and sms , demanding that I pay R1 300.00 and this is for a contract that was cancelled within 7 days but it appears as if MTN keeps on billing me, despite taking 12 months to try and resolve the issue.
