Contract cancellation - unbelieable experience

I have a Samsung S6 on contract from MTN but the phone developed some problem with the camera just 5 months into the contract thus I gave it in to MTN to be fixed. I was consequently informed that the phone cant be fixed but since it is under warranty, I will be given a new phone.

However, MTN could not find a S6 in stock thus they indicated the only options I have is to cancel this contract and get a new contract instead. I opted to cancel - and that was more than a month ago.

I haven't had my phone 6 weeks - cancellation request was given on 1st July 2016 but nothing seems to move forward from there. The MTN V&A Waterfront store has terrible service and provides no status updates. When I do eventually manage to get through to their phone I am told to have patience.

In the meanwhile, I continue to get billed for something I do not want and a phone that I have not had for six weeks. Its unebelievable how these companies can take you for a ride with you having no recourse. I do not understand how it can take more than a month to cancel a contract! At the same time, the person responsible for assisting at MTN V&A Waterfront refuses to return my calls. This has been the most frustrating customer experience for me in my life - buying a house was cheaper than cancelling this MTN contract.

Dear Mike,
I really hope this is not a generic email paying lip service and that someone actually takes notice of my problem and tries to solve it. I really dont know of how else to get this resolved.
I called the V&A Waterfront MTN again today but was informed the consultant is busy and would call back (thats what they said yesterday and the day before and the day before....) but I never get a call back from them.
Look forward to earing from someone at MTN.
