Contract Cancellation due to Coverage Issues

Good day,

I please would like some assistance, I have been a MTN customer since 18/08/2010 unfortunately I have to cancel my contract due to the fact that I do not have any coverage (NO data card 3G coverage and phone calls) in the area where I stay and MTN Quality and Coverage have no solution for me, thus they have requested the cancellation. Apparently it was sent from their department as well.

On 15 April 2015 the initial request was sent to the coverage department to assist with coverage at my residence, only this year I was informed that unfortunately I cannot be assisted and the only solution was to cancel my contracts, however even though 7 months before I was due for an upgrade they did not assist me and I upgraded my three lines:

I must say I was really quite upset when I was informed that the handsets must be returned before my contract can be cancelled. (as I informed them and requested assistance well before my contracts was due for upgrades) in the end I returned the handsets, I was requested to travel 124.8 km to an MTN shop of the coverage department’s choice instead of only traveling 9.4 km to the one in my town.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

If I am not mistaken SARS rate per km is R3.18 per kilometre which makes this trip (124.8km @ R3.18 = R396.86 PLUS R30 toll fees GRAND TOTAL = R426.86) If they agreed to let me take the handsets to the local MTN store this trip would not have cost me only (9.4km @ R3.18 = R29.98 with no toll fees) seeing that it was pointless to return my handsets to MTN as my issue is still not resolved, where can I submit a travel claim to? R426.86 - R29.98 = R396.88 is the amount owed to me as customer due to the fact that no one is assisting me!

I went through the Issue Handling Procedure first before I decided on sending this email. (In case you want to redirect me back)

Below a list of all the departments I have contacted, will provide email addresses on request:

Generic:
********** **********
Coverage Department: 4 individuals

Retention Department: 1 unattended mailbox, Retentions Manager's direct reports and one of the supervisors

Up until today I have not received any feedback. I am without any handsets (for the past 16 days) the correct documentation (cancellation letter and proof of the devices that was returned) was sent (up to date 21 times) to all departments that could assist from me personally from 15 – 26 August:

I have requested feedback almost daily

The request from the Coverage department was also apparently sent, however I have requested the proof, and after almost 2 weeks I am still waiting for it.

I will gladly send you ALL the emails, that I have sent to MTN, I honestly feel that this is not the way ANY customer should be treated!

WHO CAN ASSIST ME??? I am phoneless, and besides when I do have a phone it is without coverage, and I am still paying for handsets that I no longer have in my possession, I was advised that this issue will be sorted in 7 days (verbally by the store supervisor) we are in a new billing cycle, and I requested and submitted all that was expected of me in time, so kindly advise who will be responsible for this new billing cycle? Before 31 August I want my lines on pre-paid so that I can port them to another service provider, yet no MTN employee is willing to assist me with canceling my contract, what can I do?

When I phone the number provided for MTN ( ********** ) I get transferred to the lady that assisted me on 19 August with the hope of getting this issue resolved, as I did not receive any assistance from MTN since Saturday 13 August when I returned all the handsets or even 13 June when I first requested the cancellation. Only problem is she never gives feedback or resolve my issue, I email her daily without any luck, when I phone and speak to her, she makes all sorts of promises telephonically but nothing in writing and if I do not phone I do not receive any feedback (she does not respond to mails either)

Best regards,
Two missed calls literally one minute apart?!
16h19 and then again at 16h20
Why is it that I had to report MTN at ICASA before I started receiving feedback?
