Contract Cancellation

My mother had a contract with MTN and she fully paid the contract. But mtn is still billing her even though we tried to call mtn numerous times for them to cancel the contract, they said it was cancelled but still continued billing. Now when she calls they are telling her to pay R1600 they cannot even explain for what reason as the phone is fully paid
