Contract Cancelation STRUGGLE

I have had a 2GB data contract with MTN for many years and have never had a problem with them. How ever I installed internet at home, and have been trying to cancel the contract from September 2020.

I contacted MTN to find out how much the cancelation costs will be, the lady on the phone said it will be R487,48 on that day, but she told me I have to go in to a store to pay (the exact amount they will give me instore) and action the cancelation.

I as I live in a rural area I couldn't get to a MTN store until three weeks later. The lady in the store told me that they cannot see that on the "system" and that I should call the call center again. So I (on my own phone) called the MTN call center INSTORE. I however could not stand there all day and after being on hold 30min I decided to finish what I had to do in town for that day and call again from home.

I called again and this time the person on the other end told me that I can ONLY cancel via email, she even said that she will send the email on on my behalf. The Reference Number on the email was: ***.

I kept on asking on that same email thread if this contract had been canceled. BUT NO RESPONSE!!!!!!!!! Months later, AFTER SEEING THAT THE PAYMENT WAS STILL BEING DEDUCTED FROM MY ACCOUNT I CANCELED THE DEBIT ORDER.

FNB sent me a message that the debit order had been canceled but I should contact MTN.

So I did. This time the lady on the other end told me that MTN DOES NOT DO CANCELATIONS ON EMAIL, and that the only way will be telephonically. BUT I first have to pay the outstanding amount. I told her that I will not be paying a cent more on this contract I have been trying to cancel for over six months.

According to her I should also have called before the 14th because they already invoice from the 14th. (HOW SHOULD I HAVE KNOWN THAT?!)

THEY CAN NOT EXPECT ME TO PAY FOR THEIR USELESNESS.

And I am at the end of my rope, I don't know where else to go with this, MTN JUST DOES NOT RESPOND, and if they do its just another hoop to jump through.

I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN!!! AND I WILL NEVER RECOMEND THEM!!!!
