Continuation of - Days of our (MTN) Lives – Series 2
How ironic that one of your topics marked for attention for the month of August concerns Cell phone companies, this on the day I was writing the next in a Series based on a true story.
On the 25 July I wrote a review of the poor or rather non-existent service I received from MTN. To date, I have still not received a reply from this company, at least by a HUMAN.
I wondered why and decided to look further into the type of service they offer, compared to other cell phone providers.
On this website alone, there are over 79 000 reviews concerning MTN and all except 3% are rated 1 or 2 stars. The majority 1 star. I know that only the really desperate and those who have the means, will ever actually write into a website. So, my guess is that this in only the tip of the iceberg, as to how many complaints are actually received. How is it, that in this day and age, with Social Media, can a company like MNT allow this to happen? Where are their Customer Care/Service Provider Departments and Managers? Do they have any? In most of the reviews I read, they have not even bothered to respond to the complaints. I checked up on Vodacom as well and while there are also many complaints, in almost every instance, they have at least rep**** to the customer in some form or other.
As consumers we need to wake up and steer clear of companies like MTN. They have top Management that obviously takes absolutely no notice of what their customers are saying, or else they simply cant read. Imagine being the CEO of MTN and seeing so many complaints on a Public Website, complaining about your company. Surely anyone worth their salary would be taking action. Any top CEO would be all over Heads of Departments to find out what was going on and what they were being paid for. Thousands of complaints, which are completely ignored. I make sure from now on, to tell anyone and everyone, who will listen, to absolutely stay away from MTN. I suggest all others do the same, thankfully from reading some of them, it looks like that is already happening. MTN seems to have a lot of people at the top, who have sheltered employment, with little need to do what they are paid for. Similar to our Government Departments.
As an ordinary man on the street it is very clear, I have no way of getting a reaction out of them. They only seem to take notice of people like Wendy Knowler (and good for her, she does a brilliant job). Perhaps MTN should offer her a job. I listened to one of their PR people on Cape Talk some time ago and you would swear they spend all there lives helping people. This website tells a completely different story. They now have my money, which was taken under false pretenses and I have very little chance of getting it back. At least I can continue to make my feelings known as much as possible on websites like this. STAY AWAY from MTN.
