CONTENT CHARGE = ********** CHARGES FACILITATED BY MTN

In the most brazen way MTN has allowed ********* (nee the Guptas) to allow for CONTENT CHARGES to be added to our invoices, without recourse for refunds!!! It is diabolical in this age of the Consumer Protection Act that the giant cellphone operators can be so blasé and irresponsible to allow 3rd parties to earn money from us. It is scandalous that MTN can justify this preactice by saying "You subscribed to an internet service", and take no responsibility for verifying the validity of these transactions!

At least the Banks will reverse any direct debits which are put in dispute until the proof of the debit can be verified.

This behaviour by MTN is tantamount to ***** and I will be filing a charge at my Police Station against MTN for being party to ***** on my cellphone account, and for refusing to take responsibility and reversing such charges.

I have read many complaints on HELLOPETER and responses from MTN without them at any time taking responsibility or offering to reverse these charges! They merely suggest you stop your WASP subscriptions by dialling dial *141*5# to manage subscriptions and individually select what you wish to unsubscribe from - NOT GOOD ENOUGH MTN!

See you in the Small Claims Court!!!

Dear Valued Customer,

Thank you for taking time to raise your concerns with MTN.

Our subscriber terms and conditions do not make specific reference to content charges. MTN enters into contractual relationship with WASP’s (Wireless Application Service Providers), and acts as an “enabler” to the WASP’s by making the network platform available and providing a payment gateway. In addition MTN requires that such WASP’s be members of WASPA in an effort to bring about a self-regulatory measure. MTN does not have relationships with the content providers, they however have direct relationships with the WASP who aggregates such content on their behalf.

For any dispute regarding Wasp content subscription/ deductions, please lodge a complaint directly with Waspa either via www.waspa.org.za or on ***.

Warm regards,

Complaints Management Team
