Complete lack of service

On Tuesday MTN sent me a message stating that I had depleted my inclusive Rand bundle for this billing period. This morning, you sent me a message stating that you were reactivating my services, and that I should allow 2 to 24 hours for reactivation.

A few minutes ago, I called your so-called Customer Care number ( ********** ) to investigate what was happening on my account. Your consultant first assured me that there was no problem on my account, then – when I insisted that I needed to know why I was receiving these messages – she cut me off.

She also seemed to believe that there was more than one cellphone number on my account. It seems to me that MTN might have me confused with someone else.

If MTN cannot explain exactly what is happening on my account and why I am receiving these messages, by close of business today, I will be closing my account and moving to Vodacom. This is not an idle threat.

I look forward to an urgent response to restore sanity to this unacceptable situation.

Please be advised that we had a technical issue for data charges on the unbilled October invoices which affected some of our customer, our billing department has since rectified the issue and lifted the suspension for the affected customers.

So you suspended my account? Cut me off from the world? Potentially putting my life in danger, if I had needed to reach out to someone while I was cut off? For absolutely no good reason? And now you are not even offering me a free month or any kind of compensation to show that you are really sorry?

I will be moving to Vodacom as soon as I find a suitable contract.
