To reiterate…

I received a call from MTN on 28 September with regard to my impending upgrade (this, I might add, was after stopping at branches at Davenport and the Pavillion, where the reaction to my enquiries elicited such lackadaisical responses that I chose to leave rather than waste any more of my time). After selecting my phone and plan, and listening to a reading of the contract, I was advised that my phone would be with me in 14 days (although it usually only takes 7 days, she added).

Following numerous attempts to contact MTN after realizing I hadn’t been asked what colour I’d like – all of which ended with either an endlessly ringing phone, or a reference number which seemed to lead nowhere – I posted a complaint here on Hellopeter on 11 October.

On Saturday, 15 September, I received an email from Regina Makhubela in response to an emailed query from the week BEFORE, enquiring whether everything had been sorted out, to which I responded in the negative.

To date, I’ve received no further communication from Regina, I’ve received no response to my previous complaint on this forum (this after a promise that the matter would be elevated to the Direct Sales management team for URGENT attention) and, 3 weeks after my upgrade, there’s no sign of my phone.

Saying I’m utterly disgusted with MTN’s customer service would be an understatement at this point. Should this complaint prove equally unsuccessful in producing a satisfactory result, I’ll have no choice but to seek advice from whichever consumer councils or watchdogs I can lay my hands on.

This is unbelievable.

Good morning Charmaine Kandhei
Thank you for your post.
Thank you for taking time to raise your concerns with MTN, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused as result of the breakdown in the service delivery in one of our touch points.
Kindly note that our records show that there was a request made by yourself to cancel the order of the handset as well as the upgrade. The number *** was deactivated on our systems.
From the 2016-10-04 to the 2016-10-10, our department tried to call to make arrangements for the delivery of the handset. The number was always on voicemail.
Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.

Best regards,
At NO POINT was a request to have the handset and contract cancelled remotely alluded to on my part! This is a blatant lie. Please furnish me with the proof of this immediately!
With regards to the number being constantly on voicemail; you have both my work telephone number AND my email address. If one avenue of communication comes up against a dead end, does it not occur to anyone to try another?
Please be advised that you have until Monday to furnish me with proof of cancellation. Thereafter, I will be escalating this matter to the NCC.
