Coaxed into a 24 Month Contract
I've been with MTN for a very long time and believe that I'm a pretty good customer. Unfortunately I do not get any respect from them when I query my current 'contract'. I have spent hours... HOURS on my phone ON HOLD and redirected as they please, because no one seems to be able to help. Usually, after being kept on hold, the line would simply go dead and I'm left standing with one hand holding my phone and my other hand hitting a desk, wall or tree.
So, I decided to go to an MTN store to ask for help... They directed me back to the call center. And most laughable of all, the person helping me recommended that I should go to HELLO PETER to give MTN a bad review, and then, maybe, they'll help me.
I did not want to go on social media, I did not want to waste more time to complain or ask for help, but it seems that this is the only way I might get a response.
THE DILEMMA:
My contract ended in February 2017. I phoned the call center to change it to Pay-As-You-Go, because I was waiting for a new phone to arrive that wasn't yet released. I was then advised to rather go for a R110 per month deal that I can "stop at anytime", because it is "month-to-month" and change back to a contract when the new phone eventually arrive.
After 2 months I discovered to my surprise that I was actually coaxed into a binding 24 month contract. I never saw the contract nor physically signed either, because of the poor delivery service that do not understand simple instructions on when and where to deliver.
When I wanted to finally upgrade to a better package, I could not, because of this contract. I was assured that someone will come back to me with an explanation, but this never happened. I was simply ignored and brushed aside... brushed under the fithy carpet where the rest of MTN's ignored and frustrated customers lie. I am not surprised at all that their ratings are dropping compared to Vodacom, Cell C and the rapidly rising Telkom Mobile.
WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE:
I want MTN to go and listen to ALL the recorded messages and show me exactly at what point I was told that this is a 24 month contract. I want MTN to show me where I have signed for this contract. This will not be possible.
WHAT I WANT:
I want MTN to cancel this horrid little contract, move back to Pay-As-You-Go so that I can port my number to a different SERVICE provider and get as far away as possible from MTN. I don't want a refund. I don't want any apologies.
