Charging me for a device that is still under warranty

I have booked in a device that is still under warranty with MTN and contract to which i am still paying for. I had a problem with my device whereby the battery life was not last, device was rebooting all the time, and it was very freezing, to which i could not open up applications. The device was booked 22/02/2016, and not returned to me to date. When i sent an email to enquire , the repair centre tells me there a quote of R452 for a battery, to which there is no physical damage or liquid damage on the device. So why the hell would i pay the R452. according to the lady at the repair centre, sms's was sent to me with no approval and they took it upon themselves to accept a quote on my behalf. I was advised about the R330 fee if there is "physical or liquid damage and if i reject the quote", but nothing about paying for something that is under warranty.

The model that was booked in is Samsung P6050 ***. The line is a data line and its obvious that i would not keep that sim in a phone and wait for MTN to phone me, instead i put an alternate contact number to which i have not received any response.

this is the email i received from the store where MTN rep**** to the store enquiry . I want my device to be returned. The contract will come to an end soon and my device is still at the repair centre, i am paying and not being able to reap the benefits of the data and the device. The service at repair centre is disgusting, and i have heard my friends complaining but i still chose MTN. Where is the service?

From: Fikile Nyide [ MTNSP - HVRC Durban ]
Sent: Friday May 2016 12:44 PM
Subject: FW: Request REQ:*** Transfer

Unit is awaiting battery payment of R452.00 .

We sent numerous sms to the customer for this quote with no answer.

We then accepted on customer’s behalf because if we have rejected it the customer was going to pay R330.00 rejection fee for phone that is not repaired.

Kind Regards,

Fikile Nyide

Technical Service Representative

***
