Charged me for BIS that I was not using - I want my refund

I have a top up contract with MTN on my cellphone number ********** , in 2014 February I upgraded from a BlackBerry to a Samsung handset. Which meant that I was no longer going to need BIS. They guy that was handling my upgrade at the EastRand Mall store, did not offer to switch off or remov the BIS charge, thus they continued to charge for the service. I have since finished paying for the Samsung handset in Feb 2016, but I realised that my monthly bill was higher than just the airtime they are sending me monthly and the connection fee. When I queried that, I was told that I was still paying for BIS 43 months later. MTN was charging me roughly R55.00 extra every month, for a service I was not using and they are trying to blame me for it. The response I got is that I was supposed to ask them to take it away, yet when the guy that did my upgrade realised that I was upgrading to a Samsung handset, did not ask me if I was going to continue using BIS seeing as I was upgrading to different handset?

To date MTN has deducted an estimate of R2 420.00 from my account for BIS that I was not using and was not aware that they are still charging me for, even when I am not using that service or a BlackBerry phone. They claim that I was supposed to tell them to stop. Meaning that they are okay with keeping money that their clients are not benefiting from as long as they can and as long as no one is querying it. Taking money from clients that are not aware cannot be legal, it is tantamount to *****ing.

I am not willing to accept that MTN is just going to get away with taking so much money from me and I must just forfeit it. I want my refund, it is my money they have continued deducting without my knowledge. This is NOT right.....

PAY BACK MY MONEY !!!

That is NOT good enough. You have taken far more than that from my account. Your billing department is happy to keep more than R 2000.00 of my money because I wasnt aware that you are still charging me? Where is the ethics in how you do business MTN? this is an ********* on your part. There is no ways that I can remain your client after this.

From our side we can only offer you a credit for 6 months for this charges. The credit will only be for 6 months=R353.94. This is a goodwill credit against the account and cannot be refunded to your bank account. The credit will reflect next week on the account. Kind Regards, Alice van der Merwe ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------I wonder what happened to the above said credit Alice, I wonder why it has not reflected it's the 4th week and you have not credited me with nothing. I maintain : that MTN is okay with keeping money that their clients are not benefiting from as long as they can and as long as no one is querying it. Taking money from clients that are not aware cannot be legal, it is tantamount to *****ing. MTN you have ****** money from me! Pay back the money.
