CHARGED FOR CONTRACT I DO NOT HAVE!!!!!!
I am furious to say the least about my experience at MTN. I had a contract for years with them and then changed to pre paid a number of years back. 1. On 19 July 2020 (Sunday) I went into MTN to get a contract again and was given a phone and told the sim swap would be done the next day (my sim is old and as such could not fit into a new updated phone, hence a sim swap had to be done) 2. By the Wednesday nothing had happened so I went into the store again for assistance and was told it would be sorted out I must just give it a couple more days. 3. Again by the next week nothing had happened so went in again and complained but gave the salesman the benefit of the doubt to sort this out as he said the systems had been upgraded. 4. On 4 August nothing had happened so I took the phone into the store and got confirmation that the phone had been returned and was promised the account had not been activated (got this in writing) and that I would not be billed as there is no contract in place due to a system error/glitch. 5. On 20 August an amount is taken off my account from MTN which I then reversed as there is no contract in place. I contacted the store and customer care at MTN and got another confirmation email to say no contract in place 6. Today, the 3 September I get a final demand for R4637.61 that I owe for cancelling the contract early. What the hell!!!!! I am so angry no one can actually imagine. How can MTN bill me for a service I do not have, a cell phone I do not have??????? I have emailed them again this morning complaining and if there is no resolution then I will be going to the ombudsman for this. It is pure abuse on MTN's part and it is sick that they expect me to pay. The reference number on the email from today is #*** and the account number is BA***. I want confirmation from MTN that I owe R0 and that there is no contract in place and that my name will not be blacklisted!!!!!!
