I have recently moved from bank. My banker actually promised me that it will do all the changes to my debit orders. At the beginning of December I have discovered that not all of my debit orders have been moved. So, I tried to change those debit orders that slipped. Unfortunately, MTN’s debit order slipped again.

Since the beginning of January, I have tried to change my banking details four times. And every time the staff at the MTN agency in the Kalahari Mall, Upington, told me a different story and they cannot help me because of the fact that my account is not open for them to see. And every time they phone 808 on my behalf, we received a different process to solve the problem. The first time, 04-01-2017, they told me that we must wait that the debit order for the end of December must reflect that it did not go through. After that I can pay my outstanding account by card or EFT. So, after 24 hours I went back on 05-01-2017 to the MTN store to see if they can help me. But no success.

After a week, on 14-01-2017, I discovered that MTN have started to blacklist me. Which is totally unnecessary. They told me that I first need to pay my account and then they will open my account. So I paid the outstanding amount by card. They also told me that I have to phone the legal department on Monday morning to sort things out. I did call ********** this morning, 16-01-2017, and the person that helped me told me that my account is open so there is no need. I can change my banking details over the phone or in store. I’m not comfortable to change my banking details over the phone and therefore went to store again for the fourth time. They have told me the same old story that I need to contact the legal department. I have only received their email address this morning.

I have a good credit record and feel that it is totally overboard to blacklist me for R460. This problem could have been solved two weeks ago if I received proper service from the MTN customer care call centre and the agency at Kalahari Mall, Upington.
