Cell contract degraded unilaterally

Upgraded 4 Feb 2015 to MTN Choice 200 with new iPhone 6. Everything OK until about May 2015 when, during a trip to Mozambique, I found roaming not working. When I got back to SA, call to call centre confirmed that roaming was enabled. Then I got cut off making an international call, even though there was over 7 hours of airtime on the account. Ran out of SMS'es. Again call centre tried to increase the limit as a temporary fix, but to no avail. The account has been downgraded from a contract useful for business to a student pay as you go. I am being flooded with SMS'es with MTN offers for airtime, data and SMS bundles and time being wasted having to listen to adverts before my outgoing calls are put through. Spoke to Sizwe and Eunice at Cedar approx a month ago. Still not joy. Cannot function in a business environment like this!

Hello ruvian,

Thank you for your post.

We are terribly sorry for the inconveniences that you experienced as a result of this. We completely understand the frustration it caused.

Kindly be advised that the international roaming service is active on your account. The system also shows that the Subscriber Usage Limit has been cancelled, your number is on an open contract with no cap active.

Your number has been escalated to the relevant department to remove it from marketing sms list.

Rest assured, it is not our intention to displease you. We look forward to improving on the service delivery to you.

Regards,
Ayanda
