Caught between a port and a hard place

Hello Peter

I have been having NO success porting my existing phone number to Afrihost from Vodacom for 5 days. I followed all the procedures in the provider's emails. Firstly when the simcard was bought from the MTN store in Kenilworth Centre and they initiated the port it resulted in the sim card's Rica status being reversed and me having to go into store to redo it. Then the sim was accidently linked to a sim in Durban (I live in Cape Town), resulting in the port having to be reversed and resubmitted (For which I went in store again).

Now Vodacom states that they have not received the reversal. I again went into the MTN store for help. They stated the were waiting for Vodacom to accept the reversal before the second port would go through. I then went to the Vodacom store in the same shopping centre. They said that they had not received the reversal. I then took the Vodacom consultant to the MTN store to speak to the MTN consultant to try and resolve the issue between them . They both phoned their respective porting departments while in the MTN store together, but could not resolve it.

So for the last 5 days I have been without a telephone. I am a clinical psychologist and I run my private practice through my cellphone. No patients have been able to reach me and I have been unable to receive new referrals. I also have not been able to do my internet banking as I can't receive my one time pins.

All this has left me very frustrated and disappointment with all the companies involved.

Regards,
Sheldon Brandt
