Cannot use my data

I buy 2 - 5 gigs of data every month so that in case we have loadshedding or our WIFI goes out, I can use my phone as a hotspot as a back-up to doing my job. I have never been able to use it for longer than 10 minutes before it says no internet connection. Why must you make it so difficult to be able to work?
